Sony has named its forthcoming PlayStation 3 motion controller “PlayStation Move.” The company announced the name during the 2010 Games Developer Conference before proceeding to demonstrate several games and inviting attendees to give the technology a spin for themselves.The controller is Sony’s answer to Nintendo’s Wii Remote and Microsoft’s Project Natal for Xbox 360 — a way to use motion to play video games instead of (or at least in addition to) buttons.The buzzword throughout the presentation: Precision. Sony on Tuesday introduced 3D TV in India. Sony has joined the viewing revolution with the plan of the launch of its 3D TV in June this year. Now, the people can enjoy the experience of watching blockbusters like Avaatar on 3D TV.Based on new LED technology, the new range of TVs is also compatible with Internet and the company has exclusive tie-ups with some of the content providers like ‘Youtube' to provide videos and clips.Masaru Tamagawa, MD of Sony India, said, “Sony has the power to both produce the 3D content as well as air it, which the other companies do not have.” Sony is now trying to create its own TV content which can be viewed in 3D. According to a company spokesperson, the new experiment will be strted with the airing of the next Football World Cup to be held in South Africa from 11th June to 11th July 2010.Sony India has also planned a Rs. 1,800-crore investment in the next one year on marketing and promotional activities to create awareness about its products. “We have invested over Rs. 700 crore in promoting the Bravia range of flat panel display TVs, which contribute more than one-third of the total turnover of Rs. 3,500 crore in India,” he added. The company also plans to double its dealer network from 2,500 now.According to reports, the company is also readying 3D software for its Playstation gaming consoles.However, Sony's 3D TV will cost a little high at around Rs 1 lakh.

Scientists have detected more than 40 ice-filled craters in the moon's North Pole using data from a NASA radar that flew aboard India's Chandrayaan-I.NASA's Mini-SAR instrument, lightweight, synthetic aperture radar, found more than 40 small craters with water ice. The craters range in size from 2 to 15 km in diameter.The finding would give future missions a new target to further explore and exploit, a NASA statement said, adding it is estimated that there could be at least 600 million metric tons of water ice in the craters."The emerging picture from the multiple measurements and resulting data of the instruments on lunar missions indicates that water creation, migration, deposition and retention are occurring on the moon," Paul Spudis, principal investigator of the Mini-SAR experiment at the Lunar and Planetary Institute, said yesterday.The new discoveries show that the moon is an even more interesting and attractive scientific, exploration and operational destination than previously thought, he said.Aboard Chandrayaan-I, the Mini-SAR mapped the moon's permanently-shadowed polar craters that are not visible from the earth.
