Asperger syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder, and people with it therefore show significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported.Asperger described common symptoms among his patients' family members, especially fathers, and research supports this observation and suggests a genetic contribution to Asperger syndrome. Most research suggests that all autism spectrum disorders have shared genetic mechanisms, but AS may have a stronger genetic component than autism. There is probably a common group of genes where particular alleles render an individual vulnerable to developing AS; if this is the case, the particular combination of alleles would determine the severity and symptoms for each individual with AS.A few ASD cases have been linked to exposure to teratogens (agents that cause birth defects) during the first eight weeks from conception. Although this does not exclude the possibility that ASD can be initiated or affected later, it is strong evidence that it arises very early in development. Many environmental factors have been hypothesized to act after birth, but none has been confirmed by scientific investigation

Mayawati plays a game of one up-manship with Sonia Gandhi over a bridge that Indira Gandhi had promised. An inauguration stone made of cardboard, a paper bridge literally unveiled by the BSP in Lucknow, so what, if the actual bridge is 100 kilometres away in Rae Bareili. This is a bridge of many twists and turns.A bridge first promised by Indira Gandhi over 20 years ago, the money sanctioned much later by Sonia Gandhi in 2004 and now in 2010, when it was finally ready, Mayawati wanted to inaugurate it, obviously to stamp a landmark in her name, in the Gandhi constituency.Hence, a hurried ceremony is a paper victory for Mayawati over the Congress. The run up to the ceremony were a series of ludicrous events:In December, Sonia Gandhi inspected the bridge and promised to open it to the public in March. The Mayawati Government hit back saying money might have come from the Centre, but the state built the bridge and a state minister would inaugurate it.On Wednesday, when a Central Minister came visiting, Mayawati had him stopped 15 kilometres from the site.About the same time, her close aide Naseemuddin Siddiqui inaugurated the bridge in Lucknow, a whole 24 hours before he was supposed to.Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Uttar Pradesh PWD Minister says, "We had decided this much earlier. Mayawati was to inaugurate the bridge on her birthday on January 15, but because of the incomplete approach road, it didn't happen.''R P N Singh, Minister of State, Surface Transport says, "This government is afraid of development. Congress has pledged that it will bring the same development in Uttar Pradesh as it is doing in other parts of the country.""Inauguration is not a big deal. It doesn't matter who does it, Centre or state. But the problem lies in the fact that the state keeps putting obstacles in our projects", he added.World over bridges are made to connect people and bring them closer. But perhaps only in Uttar Pradesh where Mayawati rules the state while the Congress is at the Centre can there be a bridge which does just the opposite. NDtv New

The Mystery of Puma Punku
Tiahuanacu, Home to an Ancient Civilization in Bolivia

Puma Punku, (or Pumapunka as some describe it), stands for "Gate of the Puma". This ancient location is truly a mystery on many different levels to enthusiasts.

Like many topics related to the history of ancient civilizations, Puma Punku is most definitely considered a complexing site. Puma Punku itself is actually just a small section of a mysterious city in the Bolivian Andes called Tiahuanacu , (or Tiwanaku). There are many different ideals as to the origins of the city, still the truth remains that there are some interesting points to consider in one's own observation of how it came to be.
What is Puma Punku?

The site is located over 2 miles above sea level, and several miles from the nearest source of water, Lake Titicaca. Tiahuanacu, which is believed to have been a pilgrimage site as well as a seaport, caught the attention of a professor by the name of Arthur Ponansky in the late 19th century. He showed a special interest in Puma Punku itself, scattered about with its large stone building blocks, suggesting the structure may have fallen victim to some kind of cataclysmic event.

The age of this site is thought to be around 200 B.C.E. by the archaeological majority, but Arthur Ponansky dated it to around 15,000 B.C.E. due to the believed astronomical nature by which the site was constructed. The importance of the site to the surrounding Bolivian populous can be related to that of the great pyramids of Egypt to the Egyptians.

Indian Space Research Organisation has successfully conducted the flight testing of its new generation high performance sounding rocket. The flight test was carried out on Wednesday at 08.30 hrrs (local time), from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), SHAR, an ISRO statement said. The Advanced Technology Vehicle (ATV-D01), weighing 3 tonnes at lift-off is the heaviest sounding rocket ever developed by ISRO. It carried a passive scramjet engine combustor module as a test bed for demonstration of Air- Breathing propulsion technology. During the flight, the vehicle successfully dwelled for 7 seconds in the desired conditions of Mach number (6 + 0.5) and dynamic pressure (80 + 35 kPa). These conditions are required for a stable ignition of active scramjet engine combustor module planned in the next flight of ATV. The successful flight testing of ATV-D01 is a step ahead towards the advanced technology initiative taken up by ISRO in the area of Air- Breathing propulsion.
Road, Movie directed by Dev Benegal, and starring Abhay Deol, Tannishtha Chatterjee, and Satish Kaushik. Dev Benegal gave Indian cinema the seminal film, English, August and followed it up with a not-so-happening Split Wide Open. He returns after almost a decade with Road, Movie, a film that tries to follow the footsteps of English, August by exploring the enigmatic beauty of mofussil India, through the eyes of a virtual outsider.Movie Review:Vishnu (Abhay Deol), a restless young man, itches to escape his father's faltering hair oil business. An old truck beckons, which, Vishnu sees as his ticket to freedom. He offers to drive the antique Chevy across the desert to the sea, where it has been sold to a local museum. As he sets off across the harsh terrain of desert India, he discovers he's not merely transporting a battered vehicle but an old touring cinema.Along the way, Vishnu reluctantly picks up a young runaway (Mohammed Faizal Usmani), a wandering old entertainer (Satish Kaushik) and a striking gypsy woman (Tannishtha Chatterjee). Together they roam in the barren land, searching for water and an elusive fair. The journey turns dire when they are waylaid by corrupt cops and a notorious water lord. The key to their freedom is the eccentric collection of films and the two forty-year-old film projectors in the back of the truck. As in '1001 Nights', if the films are good, they live and move on. If the films are boring, they face death in the outback. The journey proves transformative for each of the travelers, but especially for Vishnu who discovers life, love and laughter on the Indian highway. The performances are eye-catching. Abhay Deol, once again proves he's hell bent on travelling the less-travelled road, while Satish Kaushik breathes life and soul into the character of the mela-hunting man from nowhere.Michel Amathieu's cinematography creates unforgettable frames of sheer beauty and the screenplay crackles with some crisp humour. Don't go looking for run-of-the-mill cinema and you will enjoy Road, Movie which is does lack story and drama. It premiered at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival and opened the section Generation 14plus at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2010
